Old Fort Johnson National Historic Landmark is pleased to announce a “Christmas in July” CD release party for Liaisons Plaisantes, the 18^th century period musicians quintet, on Saturday, July 24th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This candlelight evening program will feature a live performance by Liaison Plaisantes of the 18^th century holiday music on their first ever CD entitled “A Plaisantes Christmas”.

Old Fort Johnson is privately owned by the Montgomery County Historical Society, a local, not-for-profit organization formed 106 years ago. It is located right off of Route 5 at the intersection of Route 67 in the village of Fort Johnson, one mile west of Amsterdam, just a short distance from Thruway Exit 27.

The homeless animals of the Montgomery County SPCA will benefit from the 2nd Annual Motorcycle Poker Run For The Animals, to be held on Saturday, July 24, rain or shine. All proceeds from the day’s events will support the New Shelter Building Fund of the Montgomery County SPCA. The organization has been raising funds to replace its current facility for a number of years.

Registration for the Motorcycle Poker Run For The Animals, at $20 per person/$30 per couple/$15 per non-rider, begins at 10am at the Bad Pig Saloon on State Highway 5S in Rotterdam Junction, with a start time of 12 noon. The 90-mile Run includes stops at Kiddo’s in Amsterdam, Hillview in Esperance and Jim’s in Canajoharie. The Run ends at Loopie’s Pub on Mohawk Avenue in Tribes Hill.

Prizes will be awarded, and raffles, music and food will be enjoyed by the participants. Some of the MCSPCA shelter animals available for adoption may also join the festivities.
