Problem Gambling as a Co-occurring Disorder, Friday, August 13, 9am - 4pm, Holiday Inn Johnstown-Gloversville, 308 North Comrie Ave, Johnstown. Brought to you by the HFM Prevention Council in partnership with the New York Council on Problem Gambling. Clients with substance abuse and mental health disorders are at high risk for problem gambling. This workshop will discuss approaches to integrating problem gambling into existing substance abuse and mental health services. $30 per person, includes light breakfast and lunch. 6 CASAC/CPP hours pending.

Thursday, August 5, 2pm, The Canajoharie Library will host Price Chopper's Kids Cooking Club as a special event of their "Make a Splash" Summer Reading Program. Children of all ages are welcome to come to the Canajoharie Library for an afternoon of cooking with Jodie Fitz.
Jodie Fitz launched the Price Chopper's Kids Cooking Club in September of 2009. Jodie Currently travels making public appearances througout a six state region. In her appearances, Jodie teaches kids her fun, delicious and healthy recipes that they can share with t he whole family.

This movie explores the causes and consequences of "social incompetence" and provides parental strategies for teaching friendship skills in school, at home, and out in the community. Richard Lavoie, MA, MEd, is a nationally renowned expert on learning disabilities. He has been working in special education since 1972 as a teacher, administrator, author, and consultant.
This movie is approximately 90 minutes in length and will be followed by a 30 minute discussion, for those that are interested in talking about the movie.

The Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs at Auriesville will host "Morality and Spiritual Warfare on College Campus Today" by Father Jim Sheehan of the NY Archdiocese on Thursday August 19, following his concelebration of 4pm Mass in the Kateri Chapel. Father Jim is a Campus Chaplain at Hostos Community College in the Bronx, has taught courses on marality and approaches to world religions, has served in prison ministry, and is the author of "The Father Who Did Not Know My Name".
